Lobuche Peak

LOBUCHE PEAK CLIMBING 2024 & 2025

Lobuche Peak Climbing Expedition 2024 & 2025.

Lobuche (6119 m.) is an attractive peak located in Khumbu region, which offers various existing routes and also a potential for new ones. The dark triangle of its rocky East face rises over the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier to a spectacular skyline, forming the south ridge.

The Lobuche Peak consists of two different summits, which are East and West with heights of 6,119 m and 6,145 m respectively. A continuous ridge connects them but there is still a sharp gap and a considerable distance between them. The East Peak is recognized as a trekking peak, whereas the West is known as an Expedition Peak.

It is believed that the rocky outliners of the peak were first climbed by the Swiss in 1952. Subsequent attempts fell short of the actual summit, soaring above a profound notch at the far end of its long north-west/south-east ridge, finally climbed in 1984.

Solukhumbu is justifiably famous, not only for its proximity to the world's highest mountain (8848 meters), but also for its Sherpa villages and monasteries. The primary goal of an Everest trek is the Everest base camp at an elevation of about 5340 meters. But you cannot see Everest from the base camp, so most trekkers climb Kala Pattar, an unassuming 5545-metre bump on the southern flank of Pumori (7145 meters).

My trip to Nepal was nothing short of incredible. Before I arrived Tsering was so attentive and helpful during our many email exchanges. This was matched as soon as I arrived and throughout my trip. Nima Sherpa led my expedition to Everest Base Camp and up Lobuche peak. His constant good energy, smiley nature and incredible skill and knowledge of the region made me feel so at ease. I truly fell in love with Nepal. After my trek, whilst in Kathmandu, they continued to take great care of me, showing me the local sites and humbly sharing their incredible stories. This was an amazing physical challenge and developed me as a person as well. I am very excited to return to Nepal and I couldn’t recommend SKA more. They’re very passionate about what they do, it’s lovely to see that, and support a family run Sherpa company. Thank you!
